This is a bronze statue of Ramon Via known as El Madriles. He was a militiaman in the Spanish Civil War. When the war was over, he continued his commitment to the Spanish Republic. In 1944, he joined the guerilla forces against General Franco's political system. He died in 1946 in a clash with the Guardia Civil (Franco's forces).
